We invite your organization to help us amplify our impact and join us in our fight for equity in STEM in our society. Our current programs are designed to elevate STEM education in low-income communities and empower disadvantaged kids by breaking the barriers they face in their learning environment. Specifically, we are focusing on two concurrent programs:
The Child’s Reach Initiative:
During our visits to The Child’s Way Daycare (part of the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh, childrenshomepgh.org), we realized many medically fragile kids lack fine motor skills and that prevented them from interacting with their learning tools. We initiated this project to help these special-needs children to be able to engage with their learning environment. We repurposed the parts and components used to build competition robots, and designed large-buttoned, sensory-considerate learning tools and interfaces. Your support will allow us to improve on our prototype and explore ways to empower more kids in this situation by designing it for mass-production.
West View Hub STEM Initiative:
As part of our mission to bring equity in STEM education, we have partnered with the West View Hub – a grassroots community center for an underserved community through library, food pantry, and youth programs. Our team has developed coding and robotics lessons for elementary and middle schoolers and are delivering these classes monthly at this community hub. However, we need your help to expand our scope to inspire and involve more kids in STEM by forming a FIRST Lego League (FLL) team out of this community center. The center provides the space for this team, and we are ready to mentor them. However, we lack resources to provide them with Spike robot and computers necessary to participate and compete in the FLL program. Your support will finance to secure these crucial resources.
THANK YOU!
